Goodies

Well I decided to post some more pictures of the cool stuff I got for Valentine’s Day (even though it was the day after).

I went to Michael’s and didn’t get a basket thinking I could get out of there without half the store.  I bought two 12×12″ scrapbook albums.  One of them is royal blue with a swirly design on the front.  The pictures didn’t turn out so I’ll have to try again on that one.  I got it for half off so I was happy about that.  The butterfly one by Martha Stewart was one I’d been drooling over for a long time now.  It was $25 regular price and I just couldn’t see spending that much so I was always waiting for it to go on sale.  Whenever it did it was not a good sale.  I guess no one was buying them at that price though so I ended up getting it for $8 on clearance!  I did a happy dance on the way to the register.  A manager/supervisor type stopped to see if I needed any help (since my arms were full) and she carried it to the register for me.

Of course that was the same time I got the butterfly punch/stamp set.

My husband took me to this great little antique store he spotted that was in a small house.  The house looked like it was very old as well.  My husband got spooked when we went upstairs and he felt like he was going to fall through the floor.  His head was touching the ceiling too.  I bought a few goodies while there.  I bought two little boxes for my collection, two necklaces, and some vintage buttons.  I didn’t even realize everything I’d bought was red.  How did that happen?  She gave me that little cloth bag for free to put one of my boxes in.  I love it.

After that my husband took me to this nice Italian restaurant called Gambadella’s.  It was delicious!  I actually tried something I’d never had before – Chicken Rustico.  I am not sure if I spelled that last part right but it was so good!   I usually take pictures of my food but my husband gets embarrassed so since he was treating me I didn’t want to do that.  I want to try to find a recipe although no one would eat it but me.  Maybe I should just go out to eat more often.

Well, tomorrow is Saturday and I love spending Saturday’s with my husband.  I usually run errands and grab a bite to eat.  I hope everyone has a great weekend.

A little Nostalgic

Thinking back to when I was a kid… I miss those days sometimes. Not that I miss living at home. I really like having my own home and not having to live by someone elses rules that don’t make sense to me. I just miss those days when I was a kid and played all day in the sunshine. I miss riding my banana seat bike and doing tricks on it that would bring my mom running outside screaming at me to get down. I would get going really fast and then stand on the seat with one foot on the steering wheel (I was always barefoot and used my toes to keep the handle bar straight) and put my hands out until I lost momentum and had to get down. I was always a tom boy… looking back at the pictures I was a dirty little girl with dirty hair and face like Mogli from jungle book. Well, at least after the age of 5. My sister, who is 13 years older than me, left home when I was 5 so the pictures of me from that time were always cute. I was usually dressed up in cute little dresses… usually red with my auburn hair in pigtails. I miss my sister a lot! She and I look a lot alike! Funny thing is, even though she left home when I was only 5 and after that she was in another state and I hardly ever saw her, we still do many things the same and like the same things. When I went down for the funeral I went shopping for a pair of shoes to wear with my dress. I wanted something nice but comfortable and sandal-like that I could wear the whole time I was there. I tried on everything in the whole store and finally decided on a pair. With the shoe on my foot I stuck it out to show my sister and she laughed and stuck out her foot. They were the same shoes. Then while we were waiting in line to pay for our stuff she started putting on some lipgloss. I couldn’t believe it…. I had the exact same kind/color in my purse. She also makes her coffee the same way I do. Well, I can’t have caffeine anymore so I don’t drink coffee but she is the only one who can make me a cup of coffee exactly the way I like it!

Okay, staying on the same theme of Nostalgia, I took a picture of a different type of box this time. This one is a shadow box frame.  (for some reason my post got snipped at this point the first time and I had to re-write the rest!)

Inside there are pictures of various times of my mom’s life from her senior dance to the birth of my first baby to smiling at my youngest son… to her in her flower garden happy as a clam!  There is a small pill box I found in her things that had a pretty flower design on top, a small book containing the “footprints” poem, and a cross stitch of a feedsack she was working on with the needle still hanging.  There is a cross necklace that I bought her for Christmas and various pins that she wore of angels and american flags – things that were important to her.  The cardinal was her favorite bird and that cardinal is designed to sit on a flower pot.  I bought her that one and a blue jay for myself.  The roses are from her funeral.

I’m still knitting my sweater and I’ve gotten several inches of stockinette done now.  I have to get it to 14 1/2 inches total before the pattern changes.  I really need to work on a baby blanket for my niece’s baby though.  The baby is here now and his blanket isn’t done yet!!!!  I think I’ll work on it tomorrow.

Blue jumped up in my lap again but this time I was ready!  I saw the signs LOL  I managed to get some pictures which is really hard to do because she is so close.  I put my iPhone in front of my laptop screen and switched the camera to the front screen (a very cool funtion!)

Then she turns belly up wanting her tummy rubbed!

Shhhh!  Don’t tell – she’s not allowed on the couch!

Then she got curious about the camera and we got a close up LOL

Tummy not feel so good

*pout* I am really sick to my stomach and I am starting to think it’s not the flu now…   It feels like it did before when I had an ulcer…. although, that time I waited too long to see the doctor.  This time I still have meds from the time before and remember the drill.  No more tomato soup or my favorite ruby red grapefruit with sea salt.  Rice, mashed potatoes, cornflakes and bananas…..oh my!  I took Protonix this morning AND Claritin and now I am REALLY  ”Sick and tired” like George Carlin.

So yesterday, since I was in bed most of the day, the only creative thing I did was knit and today I think I’ll continue knitting.  It will take me a long time to finish the front of my sweater.  I’ll post a picture of how far I got later tonight.  My hands are not hurting yet so I think I’ll do pretty good.  A picture of the back of the sweater is in yesterday’s post.

I did take this picture of myself with my black hair that is not straight like my moms.  I feel a bit like Rapunsel.

My finished Scarf

I know I’m really late with this one.  I finished this scarf a LONG time ago.  Well here are the pictures of the finished scarf.  I loved the way it turned out.   This scarf is knitted in plane old garter stitch.    It was my first scarf so I thought I’d start out easy.  The yarn gradually changes color as you go and it turned out beautiful!  There is a loop on the scarf so you can put it around your neck and then through the loop to help keep your neck snuggly warm.  One end of the scarf is diaginal and both ends have fringe.  The charm matches the colors of the yarn so perfectly.   I loved it so much I thought about being an indian giver!  I decided to make myself one in a different color.
I’ll post a picture of my current scarf project soon.  I am doing a pattern I found online that requires me to pay more attention.   I got half way and then messed up so royally I frogged the whole darn thing!  UGH!  I started again and it’s new and improved!  I got some circular bamboo needles in one size smaller.  The yarn looks better with the smaller size needles and it doesn’t slip off so easily with the bamboo.  So far so good!  I’ll post again soon.

I got a new camera!!!!

whooo hooo!  I’m so excited.  Ever since I lost my camera at the heart walk this year I’ve been limited to taking pictures with my cell phone.  I think all the pictures on this blog so far were taken with my cell phone.  They aren’t horrible but it’s just not as clear as I’m used to.  Well today (yesterday now actually- it’s almost 1am) my husband and I were in Sam’s club and we saw this camera.  I loved that blue color and I was suprised to see such a small camera with 10 megapixels.  I was even more surprised when my husband decided to buy it for me!  I literally jumped up and down and danced around him.  I’m sure other members of Sam’s club thought I was insane but I don’t care.  I am a shutter-bug that has been living without a decent camera…. and this one is nice and small like I prefer.  I love small cameras too and this one can fit in the pocket of my jeans.  I can even use the little tripod for my cute little gateway camera that died on me with it.  So when I want to take family pictures with me included I can use the delayed dealy and run and jump in the picture like my dad used to do.  The camera I lost at the heart walk was too honkin huge to use with the tripod.  I knew I kept holding onto that tripod for a reason ;O)  What a day….  I’m still hyped up!

I love that husband of mine!

Thanks for Stopping by
