Scary on the inside

I’m so glad Halloween is over.  We live in a nice neighborhood across from a cute little park so most of my visiting ghouls are under 4 foot tall.  There were so many cute kids!  At my house it was what was going on inside that was frightening.  First of all, I have an adorable beagle (female) named Blue…. but when someone knocks on the door or worse… rings the doorbell, she turns into a werewolf!  Well, not quite, but almost as scary to a little kid.  She will charge the door and anyone on the doorstep.  We are trying to train her not to do that but she’s an older dog and you know what they say about that.  So we had her confined to a room and all  night you could hear *ding dong* followed by furious barking and then “NO, bad dog!” from my son.  The little kids would look so frightened just from hearing the barking!

So then there comes a knock at the door…..  no doorbell….. a knock.  Well, that’s different.  I answered the door and it was a cute girl with curly blond hair who was much taller then I was expecting.  AND, she wasn’t wearing a costume.  She said, “Is Riley here?”  That’s my youngest son who is soon to be 15.  So, I busy myself cleaning stuff I cleaned already so they could talk.  They used to go to elementary school together and were good buddies back then.  I didn’t even regonize her!  She doubled in size at least!  I listened from the next room as they got reaquainted and asked each other about how life has been.  My son really needs to learn about awkward long pauses…. those are bad.  That talk will definitely come before (right before) the birds and the bees talk LOL  Finally, they exchanged phone numbers and she left and Riley looked like he was about to pass out!  Then dad gets home and we procede to tease him.  We couldn’t help it!  He takes it well.  He’s shy but honest :O)

Now comes the real scary part…. when my oldest son – the senior in high school decided he wasn’t going to listen to me.  He’s sitting in his bedroom playing world of war craft on his laptop when I asked him to watch the door for a little while.  His brother had been handing out candy all night and he wanted to throw on the Templar Knight costume his dad wore to the costume party and surprise some friends.  He only wanted to go for 15 minutes and his brother wouldn’t turn off his game for even 15 minutes.  I can’t answer the door repeatedly in these temperatures because if I get cold I’ll be in pain all night.  Riley understands that and even brought me a blanket while I was sitting on the couch and was careful not to let too much cold air in.  Anyway, I finally told Jared to get his butt out there and help out for 15 minutes and the kid thought he was bigger than me.  Well he is, but that’s not the point.   He barely even looked my way and said he wasn’t going to.  I said he was done playing that game and he said “yeah right” and closed the door.  Oooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh boy……….  so he doesn’t think I can do anything.  I unplugged the wireless router and a mad boy opens the door.  I have the plug in my hand.  So he goes back in the room and sulks but refuses to help.  Fine……… stay in there with your laptop shaped paperweight.  I ended up bundling up like I was going outside so I could answer the door while Riley went out.   He wasn’t gone long and he took over.  He even fished out some chocolate for his mom :O)  What a good boy.  I hope he stays that way.

Black and Blue

Me and my knight in shining armor

I did go to the Halloween party last night and had a lot of fun.  I did straighten my very black hair but my hubby didn’t like it so I added a little curl back in for the party.  I was still feeling a little queezy so I sipped water all night and a little decaffeinated, diet pepsi that I brought.I tried not to eat too much junk food but some stuff was too hilarious not to try.  I had to have a little kitty litter cake and some of the other goodies there but I was smart enough to stay away from anything gummy which tends to be soaked in booze at parties.  I was feeling nauseated enough already!  Besides, my doctor would have a fit if I had vodka while on pain killers.  I’m not even supposed to have caffeine so no booze.

The greeter.... not real but very spooky!

These guys really went all out decorating for the party.  Every time someone went downstairs to the bathroom we would hear a screem.   Eventually, of course, it was my turn to go and there was blood splattered across the bathroom mirror and across the whole bathroom and inside the tub.  It looked like someone was murdered in there.  There was a black light in there and when you turned on the light switch the light bulbs were black and glowed a dim purple.  So it was very hard to see.  I closed the door to use the restoom and

when I reached for the toilet paper I nearly had a heart attach!  There, behind the door, standing on something like he was about to pounce down was a MAN (well not a real man  – but it looked like it) in flannel shirt and jeans with a spooky mask and holding up a meat clever!  After I finally got my heart back into my chest and figured out how to wash my hands in the barely lit bathroom I went out and looked around some more.  The bedroom on one side had a man (fill sized man) hanging from a noose in the center of the room and on the other side was a crime scene.  The mattress was off the bed and on the floor below the wrought iron bed frame was a taped outline where the bodies had been found LOL  They did such a great job and it looked like the made everything on their own.

I had a lot of fun talking with friends I haven’t seen in a while and taking pictures of everyone’s costumes.  Some people put on quite a show dancing :O)  I wish my pictures turned out better but it was too dark in there and they had a fog machine going.

When we left to go home I got cold and since I have fibromyaglia I knew that would cause trouble for me later.  It was 10 degrees last night and snowing.  I drove so my hubby get have some drinks with his buddies.   I barely got home and out of my costume (thank God!) before I got sick!  I must have eaten too many sweets for my sick stomach.  Then I couldn’t get warm no matter how many blankets I piled on me.  I really didn’t hurt that bad but I was shivering and I had to get my heating pad to try to

warm myself up.  I ended up staying in bed nearly all day today eating only corn flakes and bananas.  My sweet hubby went to the store for more corn flakes and bananas and brought me back some warm dark pink and black Minnie mouse pj’s and matching fuzzy socks.  He knows how I love cute pj’s!  Oh, and I have to add to show how really sweet he is, the socks didn’t come with the pajamas.  He actually went to the sock department and picked out fuzzy pink socks with pom-pom’s that exactly match the dark pink in the pajamas.  There was also a chocolate bar for after I started feeling better.  How sweet is that?

The funny thing is this sickness actually started at the doctor’s office on Friday.  While I was in the waiting room I started to feel queezy and moved quickly to the seat next to a garbage can.   When I talked to the doctor she just said there was something going around… just a bug.  “Bug has a bug” my husband said……  he calls me “Bug”.

The doctor is in!

I have a new doctor now (not the one in the picture LOL).  My doctor changed over to the walk in clinic.  I wasn’t very happy about that but this doctor seems good.   She may even be a little bit better!  She was very thorough!  Before I left she handed me a patient assessment summary page.  It listed out her “assessment” for the visit and all of her advice to me.  It also included a complete list of my medications and how they should be taken.  Usually I forget all that stuff before I get out the door so that is really handy!   Another bonus, she

wasn’t really weird, have large curd sized dandruff or pick her ears with the end of her pen.  Good doctors are hard to find.

Black as my heart feels

I don’t know why exactly but I’m really missing my mom these days.  She’s been gone since 2.16.2008…. and even though that’s been a few years it seems like yesterday.  I guess it’s because of Halloween and I’ve been noticing all the Halloween stuff in the store and everyone seems to have their hair dyed black.  Well, my mom had black hair and it was straight and really long…. well it was when I was younger.  Everyone tells me I look a lot like her but my hair is dark brown and not a little wavy.  So I started wondering…..  if I dyed my hair black and straightened it, would I look like she did in my memories?  Well, it’s done… I got one of those boxes of non-permanant hair color that washes out in 28 shampoos.  Now I just have to straighten it.  Hmmmm  I wonder……  will I see her again in the mirror.

Coincidentally,  I have been invited to a Halloween party at a friend’s house.  So I bought a costume and my hair will actually go with it.  I haven’t dressed up for Halloween in years and years and years.  It seems so strange but I could really use a night of fun and laughter.  I am going to do my nails too and I haven’t done that in a long time either!  Wowzers!  I hope I have fun.  I have been kinda sick (catching something) and was laying down most of yesterday feeling queezy… so hopefully that wont cause any issues for me and ruin a fun evening.

I’ll take lots of pictures!

This looks like something a toddler would mumble but it stands for National Blog Posting Month.  One of my blogger buddies is doing this so I decided to check it out.  You are supposed to post every day for the whole month.  They also offer blog prompts to get you thinking but I have a different idea.  A while back I had planned to paint a picture every day for 30 days but because of chronic pain I didn’t get very far.  Well, I still have chronic pain and it’s actually worse now but I still have to live.  I have discovered that I feel better late at night…. usually after midnight.  So this night owl is going to paint!

I’ve been taking watercolor lessons from a wonderful artist by the name of Tom Nixon.  I’ve learned so much from him and I think I’d really improve with more practice.

So, with my daily blog post  for the month of November I’ll post what I painted the night before.  My friend Rita is a real writer and she has very similar health problems.  So we have decided… she will write and I will paint and side-by-side in cyberspace we will hone our talents.

My art teacher is going to be so thrilled.

Happy “I love yarn” day!

I must really love yarn because my garage is full of it!  I always have something going either on the knitting needles, crochet needles or both.  I’m currently participating in the lion brand KAL and we are making a sweater…. my first sweater in fact!  I am also making a skarf  of my own design.  I’m needle tatting sections that will be connected with sections of kniting.   So, really, I love yarn every day…….

I hope everyone had fun with yarn today.

p.s. The super cute banner doesn’t work on my blog but if you click it you can see it change.  It’s from the craft yarn council webpage.
